My Story

Anthony Vargas || Speaker & Evangelist

I have not always been a follower of Christ. I grew up making tons of mistakes and a lot of wrong decisions. I found myself searching for meaning and purpose in different things other than The Lord. After seeking the things that would not satisfy, God revealed himself to me one Wednesday night in October 2008. I heard the beauty of the gospel clearly for the first time and surrendered myself to His Lordship. By God’s grace, I have been saved through placing my faith in him and my life has been completely changed. Now my life has been filled with plenty of past mistakes, but thankfully He is faithful when we are faithless. I now live with fulfillment, purpose, and joy. He has also given me a strong, passionate desire to reach students of this generation by preaching the gospel.

Anthony has been a student pastor for 5+ years and has a heart to speak to students. Whether it’s a camp, retreat, or just an ordinary FCA meeting, Anthony longs for students to hear God’s word in a new way.

It is my desire to impact people by presenting the gospel, preaching biblical truth, and by personally sharing the gospel to everyone. I long for each person to come to know Christ and Christians to know him deeper. I will speak at Churches, conferences, camps, or wherever The Lord would have him to share.

To reach the lost with the preaching of the gospel and to impact people for His glory.

My Beliefs

God is a Spirit (John 4:21-24). God knows all (Job 11:7, 8; Psalm 139; 1 John 3:20). He is all powerful (Genesis 18:4; Job 42:2). He is present everywhere at the same time (Psalm 139; Jeremiah 23:23, 24). God is eternal and unchangeable (Psalm 102:24-27; Habakkuk 1:12; Revelation 1:18). He is holy (Isaiah 57:15; 1 Peter 1:15, 16). He is righteous and just, yet merciful and gracious (Psalm 103:8; 116:5; 147:17; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:4, 8; 1 John 1:9). And God is love (John 3:16; 1 John 3:16; 4:8-16).
Though Jesus was the Son of God (Matthew 8:29; John 1:18; 3:16; Romans 9:5; Hebrews 1:8), He was also born to human parents (Matthew 1:18; John 1:14; Romans 1:3; Galatians 4:4). Jesus had a physical body that grew and had normal physical needs (Matthew 4:2; Luke 2:40-50; 24:39; John 4:6; Hebrews 2:14).

Jesus died on a cross as the substitute for the sins of mankind (1 Corinthians 15:1-3; Revelation 5:8-12). He rose bodily the third day after His death (Matthew 17:23; 28:5, 6; John 2:20-22). He ascended to Heaven to God (Acts 1:3-11; Ephesians 1:20, 21; Hebrews 1:3).

The Holy Spirit too has personality like God the Father (John 14:16; 16:7, 8, 13-15). He is referred to in many of the same passages as the Father and the Son (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). The Holy Spirit is who indwells believers (1 Corinthians 6:9) and convicts them of sin (John 16:8-11). By the Spirit we are born again (John 3:3-5), renewed (Titus 3:5) and sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13, 14; 4:30).
The Bible is the inerrant, infallible, and inspired word of God. This means it was breathed out by God himself. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). We learn about God and understand God through the Scriptures (Matthew 16:17; 1 Corinthians 2:14).

Salvation is by grace, through faith. It is a gift from God to all people. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. We are saved from sin’s penalty by trusting in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice as God’s offer of forgiveness. We show our faith publicly through baptism.(Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)
Made in the spiritual image of God to be like him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although people have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude separates people from God.(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)
Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all who have believed and trusted in The Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:3, 12, 20, 6:20, 19:21, 25:34; John 17:24; II Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; I Peter 1:4).
After living life on earth, the unbelievers will be judged by God and sent to Hell where they will be eternally tormented with the Devil and the Fallen Angels (Matthew 25:41; Mark 9:43-48; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 14:9-11, 20:12-15, 21:8).

It all starts with the Gospel
